Sketch Dump Fridays

...And here we have the first installment of Sketch Dump Fridays! From now on, I will be posting what i have been working on during the week outside of school every Friday. Admittedly, this post has more than just a week's work but it is all pretty recent. The last two are something that came up after listening to the Nickel Creek song Green And Grey a few too many times. I realize I'm mixing my mythologies a bit here but a story came up in my head to go along with it about a satyr who falls for a banshee. I rather like the character concepts that are starting and look forward to expanding them. Anyway, enjoy! Also, WARNING: TAR BE BOOBIES!

Adventures in Posterland!

To start off the semester in my illustration class, we are working on posters--the slight catch being that they will all be submitted to a competition when we are finished and there is a bit of prize money and recognition involved (and all of the nerve-wracking pressure that comes with that). I won't go into further detail for now but I will post a few of the sketches! We were to come up with something child-friendly that had something to do with croquet. Here's what I've got so far:

Zombie Walk

My, my, how long has it been now? Apologies for the unannounced hiatus but I took a bit of a break over winter vacation to do absolutely nothing. Well, that's not exactly true... I did get in a lot of gaming and sleeping which was pretty nice. But now I'm back! New semester, new projects and new personal challenges--let's see how it unfurls!

Anyway, it isn't much but here are a few logo designs I did for a computer class. The assignment was to make a logo for some sort of fictional charity walk/run/ride in color and black and white. While there are, in fact, "zombie" walks, I have yet to see one for Milwaukee. Sad... Here are the color logos:

Bats Final

After many trials and tribulations and a printer that just would not cooperate (I totally blame Mercury being in retrograde), here is my second Illustration final!!! I finished the class picture assignment already, I just need to post the results. As I said before, the instructions were to make a pre-reader counting or letter book using some historical reference. I chose bats because they were my favorite thing ever as a child and Canterbury cathedral because... You know, I couldn't actually tell you how I came to that one--it just sort of happened. But I did watch The Hunchback of Notre Dame at least five times while working on this. I could probably recite the entire movie from memory at this point, I'm sure. Well, enough craziness from me, I'm off to finish my last two projects.

Enjoy!

Busy, busy, busy!

I decided to give myself a quick break from the panic and art of finals to bring you this: my kinetic type animation! Tada! Youtube chewed up the quality a bit but it's finished!

Enjoy!

Excuse Me, Barmaid!

Here's another delightful final project for this semester! Eventually it will be like a closed captioning text animation if that makes any sense. Right now, I'm just working on the fancy little things to stick in there before I sync the text. What is the audio, you ask? Why, it's from How To Train Your Dragon, of course!

Love that part, haha. And here are my images so far:
I'm sure you can guess where they go.

Enjoy!
